Four games remain in Geelong's home and away season and will need to start putting wins on the board, preparing to take on the GWS Giants at GMHBA Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Coming off back-to-back losses, the Cats now sit two games outside of the top eight, likely needing to win all four remaining matches to secure a spot in Finals.
Geelong will face a GWS team that has struggled so far in the 2025 AFLW season, but it is also a team they have never beaten in the competition's history.
Heading into the must-win game, check out everything you need to know for Saturday's blockbuster clash at the Cattery.
Match Details | AFLW Round 9
Geelong Cats v GWS Giants
Saturday October 11th
Bounce: 3:05pm AEST
GMHBA Stadium, Geelong
Last Time We Met
It has been over three years since the last time Geelong and GWS met in an AFLW match, but it was a thoroughly entertaining contest to conclude Season 6 back in 2022.
Geelong jumped out of the blocks with three of the first four goals, maintaining the lead until midway through the third quarter before the Giants kicked away late, kicking the final four goals of the contest to leave the Cats 18 points adrift at the final siren.
Amy McDonald (25 disposals, 12 tackles, nine clearances) and Georgie Prespakis (19 disposals, 13 tackles) were at their brilliant best through the middle, while Chloe Scheer (two goals, seven score involvements) led the way up forward.
Team Selection
Key Player To Watch
Sienna Tallariti
Continuing to look increasingly comfortable at the top level with every passing week, Tallariti's elite skills by foot and football IQ have given Cats fans plenty of reasons to be excited about the future.
It is clear that the coaching staff have been impressed by Tallariti too, entrusting her to be Geelong's prime distributor out of full back and taking the main kick in duties across the back half of the season.
The young Cat has averaged 11 disposals an outing and is going at nearly 80% kicking efficiency, while also averaging over four intercept possessions per game to become an integral part of Geelong's defensive unit.
