Scott on Geelong's selection headache
I feel like this gets a bit repetitive, but we don't think about our 23 in any one week as being indicative of what we think is our best team necessarily.
It may well be the best team for the circumstances of the week, and we happen to play the team that has probably been in the best couple of performing teams this year. They do have a very specific set of skills as well, so we think we will likely pick a team that will suit the way they play.
But this week, maybe more than most, we do feel like we are probably going to have leave out a few guys we would love to have in the 23.
I know it is a terrible cliche that one, the good problem to have, but I guess it also fits into the way we think about the way we manage our list across the season. It is not getting easier, it is clearly getting longer as well.
Scott on Jack Bowes' VFL display
It was an outstanding performance up there, but he wasn't on his own.
Those guys played well again, we have got a lot of guys who we think are very, very capable AFL players.
Again, see the previous answer, we would like to have them in the team but there is a little bit of a squeeze at the moment. We are trying to not think about it short-term which is annoying for them, because they want to play straight away.
But we are trying to think about how we would use those guys over the course of a season. But Bowes is well and truly in contention.
Scott on being thoughtful with Jack Martin's management
We will be and we have been.
He missed one a few weeks ago, so we are going to be proactive with his management. He was in really good shape, a little similar to Paddy Dangerfield, I think it is a little simplistic to look at it in terms of the five day break into travel to Brisbane, therefore those guys shouldn't play.
Sometimes those guys can come off the longer breaks and for some reason, it is inexplicable really but it is a fact, that they just don't feel as good that week. Where as those two guys in particular felt really good going into that game and I thought they contributed well, so we were able to proactively manage Jack towards the end of that game.
I think that leaves him more likely to be in good shape this week, but we haven't made that decision yet on whether we will play him.
Scott on what he took from Sydney's last game
A little bit. I think one thing that might be missed a little is that you can look at a team have success against one of the good teams in the competition in Sydney, the challenge is that sometimes to apply those things means you need to compromise so much of the way you normally play.
That generally is a mistake, and even if it were the right thing to do, it is really difficult to make those changes in a four to six day preparation. But you generally take little bits and the ones that you like the most, are the things that they did really well that we think are important to our game as well.
Sydney, we have just got so much respect for what they have done this year. It doesn't make it easier to stop, but it makes it easier to understand what it is.
The way that they are playing, in particular offensively, has been nice to watch as a football fan and daunting to watch as an opposition coach.
Scott on facing the competition's best
I am not a believer in extra motivation, I think the competitors that I have admired the most over the years are the ones that turn up in every moment.
But what I will say, is that I have always looked forward to the games against the best teams more than I have the marquee matches.
Milestones are a good example, I get the attention around them but that has just never floated my boat that much.
I have liked the opportunity to go after them, because it is not even about testing yourself necessarily, it is just about that if this is a good game, I hope it is because people think that we can give them a run for their money. They are the ones I look forward to.
