The Geelong Football Club is mourning the passing of former player Kevin Kirkpatrick, who passed away on Sunday evening and send our sincere condolences to Lyn and family.
Kevin began his football journey with the Cats, joining the Under 19s list in 1961.
He was part of Geelong’s only Under 19s premiership team in 1962, a proud achievement early in his career and in 1963, Kevin contributed to a reserves premiership win.
In 1964 he continued to feature in the reserves and played two senior matches that season.
Following his time at Geelong, Kevin carved out a distinguished career in country football, becoming a playing coach at Griffith Football Club. He was widely respected for his leadership and toughness and played a key role in laying the foundations for Griffith’s 1968 premiership success.
Kevin later coached at Jerilderie Football Club, continuing to share his experience and passion for the game. His contributions to football extended well beyond his playing days, leaving a lasting legacy in the Riverina region.
Kevin will be remembered not only for his achievements on the field, but for the camaraderie and spirit he brought to every club he was part of.
Rest in peace Kevin.
