Geelong Cats are excited to announce Becky Webster and Nina Morrison as co-captains for the 2026 NAB AFLW Season.
Webster and Morrison have represented the Cats since the Club’s inaugural AFLW season in 2019, bringing their own individuality and leadership to the program.
Serving as vice-captain since 2022, Morrison’s elevation follows consecutive standout seasons in the blue and white.
Claiming the Club’s 2024 best and fairest and finishing runner-up in 2025, last year marked the fourth consecutive podium finish for Morrison in Geelong’s AFLW best and fairest.
Morrison averaged 20.3 disposals and 2.7 clearances per game across the 2025 season, building on the form that saw her named All-Australian in 2024.
Webster steps into the co-captaincy with three years of leadership experience, having served in Geelong’s leadership group from 2022 to 2024.
Playing a dynamic role off half-back and through the midfield, Webster is also the Cats’ most capped AFLW player, having notched 73 games in the Hoops.
Geelong Cats General Manager - AFLW Dominique Condo celebrated the leadership appointments, signalling strong momentum within the program’s pre-season.
“We’re extremely excited to see Nina and Becky lead a group that is hungry for the season ahead,” Condo said.
“Nina and Becky have consistently demonstrated the behaviours that align to our Club pursuit and their elevation reflects the high regard their teammates hold them in.
“As we head into 2026 with a refreshed side and new head coach in Mick Stinear, their leadership will be central to shaping our direction on and off the field.
“We’ve intentionally moved to a smaller formal leadership group this season, recognising the strong shared leadership that exists across the broader playing group.
“Nina and Becky’s complementary strengths and shared drive will help guide this next phase of the team’s growth.”
Webster said stepping into the captaincy alongside Morrison is a moment she’s incredibly proud of.
“Nina and I have watched this group develop over the years and it’s a special feeling to be announced to help lead as co-captains,” Webster said.
“Being part of a Club like Geelong is something I never take for granted, and what stands out most is the drive amongst everyone pushing to be better, and that’s what lifts us.
“With Mick joining us and the new-look coaching group, we’re hungry to go far this season and the commitment from the players shows it’s possible.”
Morrison echoed Webster’s sentiment.
“It’s such an honour to lead this group and to represent this Club,” Morrison said.
“There is a real freshness and energy about the group right now, and I’m excited to keep building that sense of belief for the year ahead alongside Becky.
“As we face the challenges of the next few months, we’ll stay connected to what drives us and continue to strengthen as a team.”
The Cats will open their 2026 season in a blockbuster double header against reigning premiers North Melbourne at Marvel Stadium on Saturday 15 August, featuring alongside the AFL Men’s competition.
