Geelong are brilliantly poised heading into the final round of the 2026 AFLW home-and-away season, with a fantastic chance to solidify their position heading into the post-season.

A record-breaking 10th consecutive victory last weekend has moved the Cats to a 10-1 record, still sitting in second place on the ladder with one game remaining.

The win over Fremantle secured the Cats a spot in the top four and a double chance in the post-season, while other results mean that Geelong can not finish any lower than third on the ladder.

An all-important top-two finish will be on the line when the Cats take on the Western Bulldogs this Friday night, with the chance to host a Qualifying Final.

See all the remaining possibilities for Geelong below, ahead of their final game in the home-and-away season.

WITH A WIN

If Geelong can defeat the Western Bulldogs on Friday night, they will lock in a top-two finish and will host a Qualifying Final in the opening week of the postseason.

The Cats would finish with an 11-1 record which means they can not fall out of the top two, with Melbourne sitting a game behind entering the final round of the home-and-away season.

The only other possibility would be that Geelong can finish on top of the ladder and win the minor premiership, which would occur with a Cats win over the Bulldogs and a North Melbourne loss to Richmond.

Current AFLW Ladder Through Round 11

Rank Team Points Percentage
1 North Melbourne 40 239.7
2 Geelong Cats 40 168.8
3 Melbourne 36 177.7
4 Gold Coast Suns 32 135.1

WITH A DRAW

With their four point buffer over Melbourne, a draw with the Bulldogs would also be good enough to secure Geelong a top-two finish and the right to host a Qualifying Final.

A draw coupled with a Kangaroos defeat would see the Cats finish on top of the ladder, but the most likely outcome in this scenario is that Geelong would finish in second position.

WITH A LOSS

The good news for Geelong is that they can not finish any lower than third on the ladder, even with a loss to the Bulldogs on Friday night.

A defeat would then see the Cats' top-two hopes rest on the result of Melbourne's game against Adelaide.

If Melbourne were to win, they would surpass Geelong for second position due to their healthy percentage, which would mean the Cats will travel up the highway for their Qualifying Final.

A Geelong defeat however mixed with a draw or loss for the Demons, and the Cats would hang on to second spot.
