Geelong controlled the contest from the opening bounce on Saturday afternoon, producing a strong four-quarter performance to claim an impressive 58-point victory over Sandringham.
The Cats brought immediate pressure in the first quarter, forcing turnovers and setting the standard around the ball.
Their ability to win the kicking contest allowed them to gain territory and create opportunities going forward, with Jesse Mellor converting Geelong's early dominance into the first major of the afternoon.
Around the stoppages, Jesse Hose made an immediate impact, recording two disposals and two clearances in the opening term, while experienced defender Jed Bews was influential behind the ball with six disposals as the Cats looked to launch attacks from defence.
Geelong's pressure and work rate continued to pay dividends throughout the second quarter as the home side began to gain the upper hand in general play. Nathan Kreuger remained influential in defence, providing strong intercept work and helping launch attacks from the back half, while James Worpel added another goal as the Cats maintained control of the contest.
