Mitch Duncan continues to prove that class is permanent.

Putting together another crucial display with ball movement at a premium, Duncan collected 27 disposals at 75% disposal efficiency, while also contributing his trademark run and carry with 556 meters gained.

The 32-year-old also drifted forward to boot an important goal at the end of the opening quarter, helping to keep the Cats within striking distance amidst early pressure from the Tigers.

Duncan joined the Triple M team on the Sunday Rub and discussed how the Cats were able to get the game back on their terms after halftime.

“It was a pleasing second half,” Duncan said.

“We managed to get some clearance dominance, which helped to get the ball into our forward half.

“We had to get a little bit of control with the footy, taking a few more marks in that second half once we gained control back.

“The game really opened up which was nice, and we managed to get out on top.”

Duncan has shown no signs of slowing down in his 15th season with Geelong, averaging 22 disposals while playing a variety of different roles in the first half the season.

The veteran Cat was particularly impressed with Tom Stewart’s game on Saturday night, telling Triple M that his performance was important in Geelong’s comeback victory.

“I love it when Tom plays on someone and just beats his man,” Duncan said.

“He reads the game as well as anyone, reads the ball flight and peels off his man that way.

“It isn’t a new situation for him, teams paying attention to him and sending players his way.

“As a team we can go above and beyond to try and help him, but when he is beating his man that’s when he is at his best.”
