MITCH Duncan will play most of his footy in the midfield this season, according to Cats coach Chris Scott.

Duncan has filled a number of roles so far in 2015, and this was the subject of a question on this week's episode of Tweet The Coach, brought to you by Momentum Energy.

Scott was asked: "What are we using Mitch Duncan in the backline or in a tagging role when he can be a gun midfielder?"

The coach's reply was: "We debate that one internally quite a bit, too.

"Mitch is a pretty well-balanced player, in our view, and we think he's going to end up a very good player – potentially a gun midfielder.

"The preference is not always to play him back. Within the modern systems, players often rotate back even though that's not part of their core role.

"But I think … Mitch's best footy is played in the midfield.

"We've been a little bit short for defenders in the previous couple of weeks, and I guess Mitch is a little bit of a victim of his versatility at times."

Other topics discussed on this week's edition of Tweet The Coach are:

* The priority when it comes to addressing the Cats' on-field issues

* Whether the Cats are allowing teams to go coast-to-coast too often

* How the young players will be managed throughout the season

* Why there is a push look forward rather than keep celebrating what went on in the past
