The VFLW Cats have recorded back-to-back wins and have moved into the top six for the first time this year, following a dominant 18-point victory over Darebin on Saturday.
Annie Lee was strong from the first bounce, setting the tone down back and keeping Darebin out of its forward 50 early.
Geelong recorded the first mark inside forward 50 at the 11-minute mark, and O'Kane made the most of the opportunity. She settled, went back and slotted the first major of the game. The Cats finished the quarter with a six-point lead.
The pressure remained high to start the second term. O'Kane was at it again, laying an outstanding tackle 20 metres from goal and earning herself another shot. She made no mistake, slotting her second and extending the lead.
The Cats struck again soon after from an intercept mark inside forward 50, with Morrissy finishing the play nicely.
The Falcons pulled things back slightly towards the end of the half, but the damage had already been done. At the main break, the Cats held a 19-point lead, with the Falcons still yet to score.
A few individual standouts had their fingerprints all over the contest: Davies was racking up disposals and tackles, O'Kane had already kicked two goals while working hard all over the ground, and Lee was commanding the backline with plenty of disposals, marks and tackles.
As a team, the Cats were dominant across the board. They led the marks count 22-16, held the advantage in inside 50s (15-11), and were winning the disposal count 119-93.
The statistic that stood out most, however, was the tackle count, with Geelong leading 55–37. Their pressure around the contest was a major reason they held the lead at half-time.
It took the Falcons 49 minutes to kick their first major. They had the ball locked inside their forward 50 for the opening nine minutes of the third quarter and eventually made it count, cutting the margin back to 13 points.
Both sides then struggled to break through, with Geelong's relentless pressure and Darebin's increased intensity bringing scoring to a near halt.
After around 10 minutes of grinding stoppage football, the Cats got the break they needed. O'Kane burst clear from a stoppage and ran into an open goal from 25 metres out, slotting her third for the day and putting the result beyond doubt.
In the final minutes, the Cats sealed the win with another goal, pushing the margin out to 24 points in a commanding victory. It was their second consecutive win heading into the bye.
Lee was the standout across all four quarters, finishing with 23 disposals and nine marks while leading a backline that conceded just one goal for the day.
O'Kane was brilliant up forward, kicking three goals from six disposals, while Staunton was a workhorse in defence with 14 disposals and 12 tackles.
