Scott on how the game played out

It was through that patch in the second quarter, obviously the game started okay and we had chances to put them under even more pressure which we didn't take.

Then the second quarter they just dominated.

We were fortunate to have got off to a good start so that the scoreboard left us in touch, but after that I thought we worked our way back into it.

It was clear that we had some problems that we were trying to arrest through those last three quarters, but we were good enough to at least stay in touch even with those issues. But it just became a bit too much in the end.

Scott on Shannon Neale's performance

He has got some strengths, one of them definitely is that he is a beautiful kick for goal, technically he is pretty close to perfect in my opinion.

203 centimetres, great athlete, he has helped us change the way that we play a little bit, without having a big body of work of really dominating in the air, which we know he can do.

I think all those things, you put them together and he could be a formidable player and we saw good signs of that tonight.

Scott on how the Cats can bounce back

I thought we played pretty poorly tonight.

There is the coaching part, especially at this level, it is not Under 12's where you are saying we need to work on our skill level. Some of our fundamentals were off, that can be an easy fix but we can't just assume it is going to happen.

A lot of things that we tried to do tonight just didn't work. Now if that is a pattern over time, you sort of have to go back to the drawing board but we are not at that stage.

I thought the opposition played well, you are going to have games like that.

Just don't look too far forward and work on our game, because we are still confident that when we get most things right that we are trying to execute, we are a challenge for any team.

Scott on his main takeaway from Saturday

Look, their good players played well.

If you were to forecast them playing well, the guys that you would assume had played well did play well. We have played them before where we thought we made some errors with them, it didn't feel that way tonight.

We thought they played very well their good players, that is what they do but we did gift wrap them some opportunities with some ball use and some fundamental errors that haven't been a pattern for us.

We are annoyed by it but we are not distraught.

Scott on the struggles in the forward half

It is unusual that it felt like for the last three quarters that we were under the pump, but were still in front in the inside 50 count.

Up the other end, the quality of their entries were better than ours and again, a lot of the time that was bad turnovers which leave you exposed in an open back half.

Shannon Neale was good, he is really promising for us. We are really optimistic not only that he can be a very good player long term, but he can be a very good player in the present.

Dangerfield was a bit restricted tonight, Cameron was a bit restricted as well and we didn't really give them super opportunities anyway. It was one of those nights where we didn't look as potent going into our forward half as possible.

Whenever that happens it is not just because it is us, they are obviously good players back there. My initial reaction was that their back half guys played well.
