Scott on managing the list throughout the season

We are thoughtful about it, not to say that we necessarily nail it.

You referenced this time last year, we reflected on a period we had where we didn't think we nailed that balance between managing our list, giving opportunity to young players while also maintaining continuity.

We think we have learned a few lessons there, but it doesn't necessarily make it any easier.

I have been at the Cats 15 years and we have always had a bias towards thinking about how we can get opportunity for younger players, but it doesn't feel much easier now than it did 15 years ago to be honest.

Scott on the Cats team selection

[Ollie Henry] and Jed Bews is in that category as well, we have put a bit of thought into the possibility or the probability that we would get a bit of a squeeze in this part of the year.

We still have one or two that we are confident will come back into our team, Kolodjashnij is one that springs to mind that will come back as well. It is going to be a bit of a juggle.

When I say we put a lot of thought into it, it is not necessarily that we have come up with great answers. It re-enforces to us that we do need to manage our list, which has been our way for a long, long time.

It just re-enforced that the team we pick in any one week should not be read as what we think is our absolute best 22.

It is very situational and does give some thought to the longer term.

Scott on the 1000 game milestone

Even I appreciate the coincidence of it that our teams happen to be playing each other this week.

I am very confident, I haven't spoken to him but I am very confident he wasn't aware of anything like this and I certainly wasn't either.

I think you know that I tend not to think too much about these things, but it is 1000 times combined that we have collectively felt sick the day of a game. It probably means we have been around for a while.

I always think every year is different and every situation is different. In that context it has shifted a little bit, but I don't think my approach to it has.

Scott on the changes within the AFL

The most important thing from my observation, is that the role has grown so much.

Steve Hocking, if he is not the most competent person I have met in footy, he is pretty close. He left that GM of Football role at the AFL and the role has only got bigger.

To think that it could continue being under the remit of one person was probably a bit naive.

It was always going to happen at some point, the fact that two really experienced club people have gone into the AFL I think is only a positive as well.
