Scott on the closing stages of the game

I don't think it was won or lost in the last few minutes, we had our chances to win it.

We were a little bit disappointed with some of our execution late, but there was high pressure and it is difficult to communicate in that situation. It was quite impressive really, to give ourselves the chance to win the game.

It is disappointing because especially early in the game, and probably for the majority of the game, we felt like we were at least in it. Not in control of the game necessarily, but certainly in a lot of key areas, we were well on top and weren't able to capitalise.

The fact that we couldn't quite capitalise right at the end was a little bit of a pattern.

Scott on the takeaways

We had some positives.

I don't know whether this is the right way to think about it, but a way to think about it is losing to the Crows at the Adelaide Oval, it is not a game lost to the competition. Most teams are going to struggle in that game, in a way if we had of won, it would have been a game gained on the rest of the competition.

We had some really good performances that I think go well for what might be later in the season for us.

Dangerfield was as good as he has been all year, looking more like himself. That is as well as I have seen De Koning play through the middle. We brought a couple of guys in who have been dominating the lower levels and they played well, Bowes and Wiltshire.

We just weren't quite good enough to get it done against a good team, but we feel like the game was there for us to win and we didn't quite grab it.

Scott on what the Cats did not execute

Shots at goal early, their defenders were able to relieve the pressure out of their back half pretty well.

There is always two sides to that coin, it is difficult to execute and they did that well, but we made it a little bit easy for them.

Even when they were kicking the ball out of there under pressure, it landed in their lap a little bit.

When we were pretty dominant in other parts of the game, that was a bit frustrating.

Scott on Patrick Dangerfield's performance

It has been a bit of a slow build.

Again, everyone is entitled to their opinion, but no-one has the access that we have internally to know where he is at. This was sort of something that wasn't really available to us five or six weeks ago, and we think we have been building towards it a little bit more.

It is not a matter of setting out a macro-plan and sticking to it no matter what, he is going to have some ebbs and flows. I think it is true of all players across the competition, but especially the ones that are towards the end of their careers.

He definitely showed that he's still got it, didn't he?
