Geelong Cats premiership player Mark Blicavs is the latest Cat to sign on, penning a one-year contract extension for 2026.

Committing to a 14th AFL season, Blicavs made his debut in Round 1, 2013 and has played 280 AFL games to date. Renowned as one of the most reliable and versatile players of the modern era, Blicavs' durability stands out and since his debut has only missed 17 games, remarkably featuring in 94% of Cats games.

A Geelong life member and dual Carji Greeves Medallist, Blicavs has continued to play a crucial role in the first 11 matches of the Cats’ 2025 season across multiple lines, averaging 13.3 disposals, 11.6 hit outs, and kicking 6 goals.

Prior to Rhys Stanley’s return from injury, Blicavs’ versatility was on full display, shouldering the ruck load for the previous two weeks before resuming his role as a midfielder in the win against the Western Bulldogs in Round 11.

Geelong Cats Executive General Manager – Football, Andrew Mackie said Blicavs’ versatility has been crucial in first half of the season.

“Mark is an incredibly flexible and a dependable teammate and is an outstanding leader for our football program.

“It was an easy decision for us to extend Mark's contract, he remains a key piece for us and will continue to be a key driver of high standards and team success.”
