2025 AFL Season - Round 12
West Coast v Geelong Cats
Optus Stadium, Perth
Sunday June 1st, 7.20pm (AEST)
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Geelong: Lawson Humphries
With all the poise and composure that he provides Geelong across half back, it is easy to forget that Humphries is just 21 games into his AFL career as he continues to build another terrific season in 2025.
The young star collected 19 disposals and six marks against the Bulldogs to extend his strong run of form, averaging 19 disposals, five intercept possessions and six rebound 50's per game this year.
This weekend will also be an exciting homecoming for Humphries, as he returns to his home state of Western Australia for just his second AFL game at Optus Stadium.
West Coast: Ryan Maric
Playing a new role across half back this year, Ryan Maric has become West Coast's prime distributor and has been trusted as their designated kicker, the player who sets up plenty of their attacking forays.
Maric averages a team-high 22 disposals per game in 2025, accumulating 20 possessions or more in each of his last 11 matches, while also averaging six rebound 50s in that span.
On the wide expanses of Optus Stadium, Maric's kicking prowess will be crucial for the Eagles and something the Cats will need to be wary of on Sunday night.
RECENT HISTORY
Geelong have a strong record against West Coast in recent times, currently holding a five game win streak over the Eagles dating back to 2021.
The Cats scoring ability in those games has also been a feature, averaging 130 points per game in their last five clashes with West Coast, winning those matches by an average of 68 points.
These two teams have only squared off at Optus Stadium three times, West Coast holding the advantage with two wins from those three contests.
