Scott on his connection with Robert Walls
'Wallsy' was the first coach that Nigel Lappin and I ever had as professional footballers.
We went up as 17 year olds to the fledgling Brisbane Bears, who had done it tough for a few years already. All the people who have had success at the Bears, the Lions and Fitzroy people that came across in time, all reflect back on that time as really formative for the future success. The key person within that was Robert Walls.
I tend to think about how hard that was, especially now being a head coach with all the support that I have, I can empathise for 'Wallsy' who was in a coaching sense a one man band.
For him in his last days and for his family, they must be so proud to reflect back on where football is now, particularly in the Northern states and everyone looks back and thinks is it wasn't for him, Brisbane wouldn't be in the situation that is is now.
On a personal level and I speak for Nigel Lappin as well, we wouldn't be where we are without him.
Scott on the Cats record at Adelaide Oval
I would like to think that we always think about these things and end up in a pretty logical spot.
I have said enough that I don't think that a very different team, completely different circumstance five years ago has that much relevance on a game this week. But it is probably like GWS would say, they don't feel uncomfortable playing here and that is a good way to describe the way we feel about Adelaide Oval.
There is a few reasons for it, the shape of the ground and that sort of thing that are logical.
I would love to sit here and say that we nail the ground every time we play it so we are going to be fine, but I think that is a bit simplistic.
Scott on the shorter breaks between games
Yeah it does factor into it, we are thinking about it but we are not beholding to it.
We don't think it is such an issue that requires huge intervention, but we just have to be aware of it.
In a lot of ways for us, it depends on what we get. We don't think it is a situation where weeks out, we were going to be really proactive in our management plan. It is more a matter of seeing how we come off this game and working out the condition of guys, but again the short breaks have tended not to worry us too much.
We have got enough confidence in our program that we will be in good enough shape to play well.
Scott on the return of some key Cats
Cam Guthrie and Jack Martin have been training really well, and will play a half or maybe at least a half in the VFL next week.
We feel as if we have got an influx of players coming quickly.
Jack and Cam have obviously been out for a long time and we have been really cautious with them, but they are just ready to play some footy now which is exciting for us. Mitch Knevitt will likely play in that game as well.
In addition to the four players that we are talking about as possibilities for this week, we have got another three that could come quite quickly as well.
