Nina Morrison and Georgie Prespakis celebrate Geelong's Round 5 win against West Coast at GMHBA Stadium.

She may be just 20 years of age, but Georgie Prespakis is already building a spectacular resume as she celebrates her 25th AFLW game this weekend.

Prespakis burst onto the scene in her first year, earning her place in the AFL All-Australian team and finishing runner-up in the Cats best and fairest in just her second season.

The star midfielder joined Geelong as the second pick in the 2021 AFLW draft, taking no time getting started as she was awarded a rising star nomination in her debut game.

The 20 year old was also selected to the AFLPA AFLW’s 22 under 22 team in both her first two seasons, while finishing in the top ten in the AFLW season seven best and fairest.

Fellow midfielder Nina Morrison spoke this week on the impact of Prespakis, noting that her desire to push the team further has helped improve players around her.

“I look at her 25 games so far and she has hardly played a bad one,” Morrison said.

“It's a real credit to her, she is a super talent but she is driven by her thirst to improve and get better.

"She has really high expectations of herself, but the way she is able to contribute to our team and what she has added over the past couple of seasons is pretty remarkable.

"I love playing alongside her and linking up with her, I am looking forward to many more games to come in the future.

"She has been awesome with what she has been able to do already."

The silky on-baller has taken her game to a new level in 2023, averaging 23 disposals and nine tackles per game while dealing with increased attention from opposition taggers.

Geelong head coach Dan Lowther was full of praise speaking about Prespakis this week, saying it might be one of the best starts to a career in AFLW history.

"She has been impressive, to say the least, she just continues to improve,” Lowther said.

“She is probably her harshest critic and we have to keep reminding her, that she has so much influence in other areas of the game and it's not just about racking up huge disposal numbers.

"It's her tackle pressure, her transition, her game awareness, and all those things that you pick up with experience.

"Her first 24 games have been very impressive, she is raring to go and she has great support and mentors around her."

The Calder Cannons product spent time with the Essendon VFLW side in 2021 prior to being drafted, with Prespakis set to bring up her 25th game against the Bombers this Sunday.

The Essendon clash will also mark the first time Georgie has faced off at the top level against her sister, Maddy Prespakis who is celebrating her 50th AFLW game.

Georgie and the Cats head to Warrnambool this Sunday to face the Bombers, with the first bounce from 1:05pm.
