A big season of eastern states footy awaits Geelong following the release of the 2023 Smithy’s VFL fixture.

The Cats will be on the road for the opening month, with big games against Carlton (IKON Park), Gold Coast (Metricon Stadium), Box Hill (MCG) and Werribee (Avalon Airport Oval) to get their campaign underway.

Geelong’s first game at GMHBA Stadium will be in Round 7, with a run of home games later in the season as the Cats play six of their last nine rounds at the stadium.

The VFL side is set to play in at at least two double-headers with the Cats’ AFL team, taking on Gold Coast at Metricon Stadium in Round 2 and Box Hill at the MCG in Round 3.

The Cats will take on 18 teams across the 22-round season, with four byes across the year. Sandringham and Williamstown are the two teams the Cats do not face during the home and away season.

The VFL fixture will kick off in line with Round 2 of the AFL season, with VFL match dates and times beyond Round 14 to be confirmed when the corresponding AFL fixtures are locked in.

All matches in the 2023 Smithy’s VFL season will be live streamed free via the AFL website (afl.com.au) and AFL Live Official App. Further broadcast details will be confirmed at a later date.
