Geelong's vast improvement in AFLW Season 7 was recognised at the W Awards on Tuesday night, with the Cats featuring heavily throughout proceedings.
Following the team's best season to date, the Cats had three players named in the All Australian side - the first time Geelong has ever had multiple representatives in a season - with Georgie Prespakis (midfield), Chloe Scheer (forward line) and Amy McDonald (interchange) all being named for the first time.
Prespakis and McDonald have been key cogs in Geelong's midfield, both taking their games to new heights in Season 7 with club record disposal tallies and a tackling intensity to match their fierce attack on the ball.
Scheer found her rhythm in the Cats' increasingly impressive forward line, becoming almost unbeatable in one-on-one contests as her contested marking and determination to win the ball in attack set the foundation for an impressive scoreboard tally.
Scheer had another reason to celebrate on the night, with her courageous mark against North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroos in Round 4 being crowned the Toyota AFLW Mark of the Year.
The Cats were also in the thick of the action with the votes for the Best and Fairest award.
Prespakis led the way with 15 votes, including two best-on-ground performances, capping a brilliant second season for the 19-year-old.
Fellow midfielder McDonald also had her name read out on several occasions, finishing the night with 12 votes, including two best-on-ground efforts.
Other vote-getters for the Cats were midfielders Becky Webster (5 votes) and Nina Morrison (3), forwards Shelley Scott (2) and Scheer (2), and defender Meghan McDonald (1).
The Cats' strong performance at the W Awards comes on the back of a remarkable season, which saw the Cats post seven wins as they returned to finals, earning a home Elimination Final.
Geelong will celebrate its season with the club's Best and Fairest Event on 2 December.
