GEELONG senior coach Chris Scott last weekend surpassed the legendary Reg Hickey’s record for the most wins as Cats coach, when the Cats (82) defeated Port Adelaide (47) at GMHBA Stadium.  Scott notching his 185th victory, with a total winning percentage of 68%.

“As a team of all club, we are excited to celebrate this significant achievement with Chris. I don’t think there’s much doubt that Chris is one of the best coaches in our game, and we’re really pleased to have him here in Geelong”, Geelong CEO Steve Hocking said.

“We’ve seen an almost complete turnover in our list over the last decade, without access to the top of the draft and we’ve remained competitive year in, year out”.

“Chris has been a significant part of that, continuing to unlock excellence, and his record speaks for itself,” he said.

After a 215-game playing career with the Brisbane Lions, Scott joined Fremantle as an assistant coach in 2008 before securing the senior role at Geelong ahead of the 2011 season.

In 2011 Scott became one of only six to lead Geelong to a premiership, and one of only two coaches in VFL /AFL history to lead their club to a flag in their first season in charge.

Signing to Geelong for the 2023/24 seasons, Scott will become the club's longest serving coach, surpassing Reg Hickey’s long-standing record of 304 total games at the helm.

Geelong are set to take on Adelaide tomorrow at GMHBA stadium, for round 11 of the AFL season.
