Amy McDonald is once again the fans’ choice as Geelong’s top player for the season.

The 24-year-old was named as the AFLW Fan MVP, presented by Geelong Dairy, at the Geelong AFLW Best & Fairest on Saturday night.

It is the second year running McDonald has claimed the award, after she was able to take her game to a new level once again, following her 2021 breakthrough season.

McDonald averaged career-best stats for disposals (21 per game), tackles (8.1) and clearances (5.6), and led by example with her tenacity at the contest.

The star on-baller was named in the initial All-Australian squad for the first time this year, and was nominated by her teammates for the AFL Players’ Association MVP, alongside Becky Webster and Maddy McMahon.

McDonald’s consistency across her 10-game season was commendable, with her ability to win the ball, weave her way through traffic and stand strong under pressure seeing her named in AFL Media’s best players every week.

At the end of the season, Members were invited to vote on the player they believed was the Cats’ most valuable for 2022. All eligible entries went into a draw to win a prize that included a team-signed guernsey and personalised video message from the player they voted as MVP. The winner of the draw was Terry Van Der Geest of Donvale.
