Maddy McMahon has continued her stellar start to 2022 with another five votes in the AFL Coaches Association AFLW Champion Player of the Year award.

The 32-year-old put on a defensive masterclass to keep the Cats in the contest against the Lions as the opposition dominated the territory battle registering 38 inside 50s compared to Geelong’s 12 during the Round 4 clash in Maroochydore.

McMahon recorded a game-high six marks to go with 13 disposals and seven intercepts.

McMahon’s five-vote haul took her season tally to 18 votes, propelling her inside the top 10, 14 votes behind North Melbourne’s Ashleigh Riddell.

Amy McDonald also featured in the coaches' votes after leading the Cats for disposals (20) and clearances (4).

Geelong will return to GMHBA Stadium in Round 5 to host the West Coast Eagles on Friday at 7.10pm.
