The White Out Game has arrived and the Cats are set for one of the biggest nights of the year, set to take on the Gold Coast Suns in a Friday night blockbuster at GMHBA Stadium. 

It looms as an important game for Geelong two weeks out from their mid-season bye, as they look to bounce back after suffering consecutive defeats over the past two weeks. 

The two sides met earlier in the year and the Suns prevailed on the Gold Coast, but the Cats hold a perfect 8-0 record against the visitors at Kardinia Park. 

Of course, one of the main spectacles of the evening will be the White Out at the Cattery, with GMHBA Stadium set to be transformed into a cauldron and the rally towels ready to be waved by the Geelong faithful.

Oli Wiltshire v John Noble

Geelong have struggled to contain slingshot ball movement from half back over the past two weeks, which does not bode overly well against Gold Coast and John Noble, who is one of the most in-form half backs in the league at the present time. 

Noble has collected 30 disposals or more in four of his last five games, also pushing forward to hit the scoreboard in four of those matches and equalling his career-high with a 36 disposal outing against Brisbane last week. 

He also sits fifth in the AFL for Rebound 50s and eighth for metres gained in 2026, which means the Cats will need to find a way to apply pressure in their front half, and there might not be a player better suited to that role than Oli Wiltshire. 

After a quiet first half, Wiltshire had a profound impact in Adelaide following the main break collecting 10 disposals, four score involvements and three intercept possessions in the second half alone. 

Geelong will most likely be looking to up their pressure across half forward on Friday night, so keep an eye on their plans for Noble and how they deploy Wiltshire as the game unfolds.

Geelong's VFL team keep on rolling after another dominant victory over Sandringham last week, remaining two games and percentage clear on top of the ladder after 10 matches. 

Remarkably so far this year, the Cats have won seven games by 44 points or more and importantly, sit three wins inside the top four with eight games remaining in the regular season. 

The VFL Cats will be back in action on Saturday at GMHBA Stadium, set to take on the Gold Coast Suns who sit in 21st on the ladder, holding a 2-6 record so far this year. 

It will also be Geelong's last home game for a little while, with the Cats set to hit the road in four of their next five games.

GMHBA Stadium was a sight to behold, bathed in a sea of white on Friday and on one of the biggest nights on the club's calendar, Geelong rose to the occasion as they stormed to a 45-point victory over the Gold Coast Suns. 

Looking to bounce back from consecutive defeats, Geelong locked down defensively as they held the Suns to just three goals in the opening half, building a healthy buffer by the main break and continuing on to record an important win in the context of their season. 

It has become a familiar story this season, but Max Holmes (31 disposals, seven score involvements) and Bailey Smith (27 disposals, 10 inside 50s) were absolutely electric tonight as they found the footy with ease, but also drove the ball forward time and time again to spark plenty of movement through the middle of the ground. 

Shaun Mannagh (eight score involvements) and Shannon Neale (six score involvements) roamed up the ground and were incredibly influential, Connor O'Sullivan (eight intercepts) and Lawson Humphries (seven intercepts) were inspirational across half back, while Ollie Dempsey (20 disposals, two goals) provided plenty of run on the outside and consistently posed questions of Gold Coast's defensive structure. 

It was a spectacular sight as the Cats emerged onto GMHBA Stadium in a sea of white, and the players certainly did not let their adoring fans down as Tom Atkins pushed forward early, taking just 30 seconds to kick the opening goal of the game.

Gold Coast played a high-possession, controlled brand of football and it was proving difficult to contain early as they kicked three unanswered goals, but Geelong responded through Shannon Neale and a brilliant finish from Oli Wiltshire to pull back into the contest. 

Patrick Dangerfield added another major late and despite the sluggish 10-minute patch, the Cats took a six-point lead into quarter time. 

Max Holmes and Bailey Smith were at it again early with 15 disposals and four clearances between them, with Geelong leading the inside 50 (+6) and clearance counts (+6), despite a big discrepancy in the disposals count (-57). 

It became four unanswered goals when Ollie Dempsey slipped out the back to kick the first of the second quarter, before the game turned into an arm-wrestle with Dempsey's major the lone goal between the two sides up until the 19-minute mark of the term. 

Jeremy Cameron added two goals later in the term along with another to Ollie Henry, defensively the Cats kept the Suns goalless in the quarter and it helped the home side build a 28-point advantage at the main break. 

Needing some toughness around the football, Tom Atkins' impact was profound in the opening half as he collected three clearances and laid four tackles, to go with his goal and a goal assist. 

Lawson Humphries was outstanding on return with six intercept possessions to half time, Oli Wiltshire recorded an equal game-high four inside 50s, while Holmes' run off half back was telling with 15 disposals and 448 metres gained. 

Geelong's run of unanswered goals ended at seven as Gold Coast kicked the first two majors of the second half, but again the Cats had the answer as Shannon Neale and Wiltshire unleashed two thumping set-shots from an identical spot, re-establishing their lead at a crucial moment in the match. 

The clearance dominance was starting to become a telling factor in the contest, as Geelong maintained a 32-point lead heading into three quarter time. 

Gold Coast kicked the first goal in the final quarter to put some intrigue into the contest, but Holmes added his name to the list of long-range goal kickers with a brilliant finish, settling any nerves 10 minutes into the fourth term. 

Dempsey curled home his second goal of the night to extend Geelong's advantage, Cameron slid through his third Ollie Henry added another and Wiltshire put the cherry on top, with the Cats closing out a 45-point victory. 

Geelong will maintain their position in the top four on the back of Friday's win before attention turns to a monumental battle out west, as they prepare to take on Fremantle at Optus Stadium next Thursday.
