GEELONG could make up to four changes for Sunday's clash against Sydney as the Cats look to lock in a top-four spot.
Skipper Joel Selwood will return for his first game since round 12, while Gary Ablett is also a confirmed starter after completing his 14 days of quarantine.
Gary Rohan is available after he was a late withdrawal with a glute issue last week, while Jack Steven has also recovered from the jaw injury that has kept him out of the past three matches.
But Rhys Stanley will miss a third match, which means Esava Ratugolea and Mark Blicavs look likely to share ruck duties.
"(We're) still a couple of days out, and has been our process all year, we've waited until as late as possible before we absolutely finalise our team," coach Chris Scott said on Friday.
"But, I think we've earmarked that the plan was for Gary to come back in as soon as he was available. And the plan was to hold Joel back as long as we possibly could.
"We've done that, so there's no reason to think that those two won’t play.
"Then there's a few other things at the margin as well that we're probably not as clear on right at the moment.
"Best guess is Rohan will be available to play, Stanley won't be, and Jack Steven will be available."
Scott is confident Stanley will be fit for the first final, which could leave the Cats in another ruck dilemma.
"Given that there's a pre-finals bye, that leaves him as sure a thing as possible to be available," Scott said.
"Now, I've said he'd play for a couple of weeks in a row now and got it wrong.
"But that's not my area of expertise – I'm really just the messenger when it comes to this stuff. But, every indication we've got is that he'll be OK."
Scott also had no worries about Ablett being short of match practice, saying the modern-day great is in "really good shape."
The Cats need to beat Sydney to secure the double chance with a loss relegating Scott's men to fifth place and an elimination final.
Players not selected to face the Swans will play in a scratch match against the Western Bulldogs on Monday.
