This Saturday the Demons will have to be ready to gear up against Geelong’s ameliorated defence force, which was strong enough to outclass the hardest two teams in the competition.

Over the last two weeks Geelong have demonstrated that they’re here for the long haul, after taking victory over Grand Final favourites, Fremantle and Hawthorn.

According to Harry Taylor, this week won’t be any different. The Cats’ pressure will be just as high this Saturday when they take on the Demons, if not more.

Taylor admitted that after their shock loss in Brisbane their defensive game was addressed and adjustments were made.

"We made a bit of a focus on our defence post the Brisbane game," Taylor told News Limited.

From now on the Cats main focus is hitting every game harder than the last and making sure each week is an improvement, despite their opponents place on the ladder.

"When you're trying to improve things, you don't focus on the opposition too much," Taylor said.

"No matter who the opposition are, you just focus on getting better in certain areas and that should be the emphasis we take into the game.
"It's a really good opportunity to keep working on some of the areas we've been working on over the past couple of weeks."

Taylor has also said that he’s not far away from signing another contract with Geelong.

"Hopefully it will all be done pretty soon," Taylor confirmed.

Senior coach, Chris Scott, explained in this week’s press conference that the Cats treat every game as a challenge and uphold a consistent performance in every test.

"Our aim is to be consistent with our approach from week to week," Scott said.

"Everyone in the footy world accepts that we played two of the best teams in the competition over the last two weeks," Scott said.
"This week we play a side that hasn't performed as well this season.

Currently Melbourne’s position on the ladder is second from the bottom, having only been able to win two games for the season, defeating the Giants and the Bulldogs.

"So our challenge is to forget about what the opposition presents and keep improving our game.

"It's a different test but it's a test nonetheless."
