Geelong star Gary Ablett is confident that the Cats can recapture the form they displayed earlier in the season.

“We’re confident if we can make a few tweaks to our game plan and out structures, that we can get back to playing the level of football we were playing earlier in the year,” Ablett said speaking to krockfootball.com.au.

“The last five or six weeks have been a bit disappointing, and we know that; especially the performance on the weekend.

“We weren’t good enough in many areas of the game, and Fremantle came out to play.

“We’re confident we can fix it up. There’s still three weeks to go, and we need to make sure we play some really good footy and hopefully get ready for a big finals series.”

In a good sign for Geelong supporters, Ablett believes he is in good shape heading into the backend of the season.

“My body’s feeling pretty good at the moment, and I want to make sure I finish the season off strongly and that I can play my part in helping the team to get back to playing the type of football I know we can play.

“Obviously there will be a bye before the finals, which will be a bit of a rest for the guys.

“We spoke after the game with how disappointed we were with the performance on the weekend, and it’s not one of those things where you just turn up to finals football and it all clicks then.

“We’re training hard during the week, we’re working hard on the areas that we need to fix up, and that’ll start this weekend against North (Melbourne).”

Geelong will host the Kangaroos in their annual retro round clash at GMHBA Stadium on Saturday night.
