Jamaine Jones has been announced as one of four finalists for the 2019 Jim Stynes Community Leadership Award.

The award is presented annually to an AFL or AFLW player who has best demonstrated the values of the late former Melbourne Football Club President and player Jim Stynes, in their commitment to the community, helping others and making a difference and the way they played and represented the game on field.

Jones’ nomination sees him recognised for his work with Barwon Child Youth & Family’s  Foster Care Campaign. Announced as the campaign’s official ambassador in 2018, Jermaine has continued his inspiring work throughout 2019.

A campaign close to his heart, Jamaine's passion stems from his own experience growing up. At seven years old, Jamaine was brought into foster care before being adopted by Geelong local Sue Lovett. Through his role with the local Geelong organisation, Jamaine has avidly promoted the positive impact foster care can have on the lives of children and young people.

As well as his work with Barwon Child Youth & Family, Jamaine’s work within the club’s Djilang Program has seen him work alongside Traditional Land Owners and Aboriginal community members to encourage cultural connection for young people across the Barwon region. Jamaine encouraged young people to explore, embrace, connect to and celebrate their culture through language, art, friendship and football. Jamaine attended many of the Djilang sessions and was a true leader within the program.

The other finalists are Jessica Hosking (Carlton Football Club), Stephen Coniglio (GWS GIANTS) and Travis Boak (Port Adelaide Football Club).
