The business end of the 2026 AFLW season has arrived and the post-season is ready to kick off, as the Cats prepares to take on Melbourne in a blockbuster Qualifying Final on Saturday afternoon.

Geelong could not be in better form under new coach Mick Stinear, finishing the home-and-away season with 11 consecutive wins and securing second position on the ladder.

In the final round of the regular season, the Cats also created a new slice of history as they became the highest scoring team in an AFLW home-and-away season, with no team able to nullify their offensive prowess so far.

They will face a Melbourne team that has had a brilliant campaign in their own right, finishing the regular season with a 10-2 record to sit in third spot on the ladder.

It all points towards a monumental Final at IKON Park on Saturday afternoon. Take a look through everything you need to know ahead of a big day for Geelong.

TEAM SELECTION

PLAYER TO WATCH

Amy McDonald

There might not be a Geelong player that understands AFLW Finals better than star Cat and three-time best and fairest winner, Amy McDonald.

With four previous Finals appearances to her name, McDonald has been an ultra-consistent performer for the Cats in the post-season, collecting at least 15 disposals and five tackles in each of those four games.

Her display in the famous 2023 Semi-Final against Melbourne was game-changing, kicking the opening two goals of the match and going on to finish with 21 disposals and four clearances in a dominant outing.

McDonald has also found strong this year, finishing the home-and-away season off with a 30-disposal game against the Western Bulldogs last Saturday.

Under the immense pressure of a Final, Geelong will need their leaders to stand tall to gain the ascendancy and McDonald will be one of the most important players in the blue and white Hoops on Saturday afternoon.
