Humphries on whether there was a different energy on Thursday

It is hard to say, I feel like most of the group were pretty similar. I don't think we have been that far off, even in the games that we have been losing.

I do think you bring in the young guys and guys that have been working really hard to try and play AFL, you have Jay Polkinghorne, Jhye Clark and Gryan [Miers] off the top of my head.

Brad Close as well, a lot of those guys played a lot of VFL in the last month and they want to play AFL every week. It felt like those four in particular brought a really strong energy to the group.

I guess you could say that, but I also think the rest of the group were pretty similar and we have been pretty consistent. It is just those four that brought a really good energy.

Humphries on Nathan Buckley

I have loved 'Bucks.'

He has been working predominantly with the backline, and I have loved working with him. He is a really a good person, I am sure that if he got a head coaching gig somewhere that he would do a really good job.

I am more than happy if he wants to stay, I would love for him to stay at the club and be a part of success here. I think he is a really good person and I have felt like I have improved and gone to another level with him as my coach.

I really enjoy him being here and hopefully he hangs around.

Humphries on Geelong's list depth

He is pretty hard to replace, our dual reigning best and fairest winner [Max Holmes].

He is a star and we will miss him, but I think you see the way that guys like Jay Polkinghorne comes in and slots in. The way Jhye Clark comes in and slots in, I just think that anybody from the VFL, the VFL had another good win and are playing really good footy.

I don't see why another VFL player can't come in and support that, then it is probably on a few of us to step up and try to fulfil the role a bit.

We will miss him, but I also think we have the list and squad depth to still be a really good side without him.

Humphries on the clash against Melbourne

They are obviously playing pretty well.

I think we are both similar sides, we like the 'G and we like the big grounds and love to run.

It is going to be a good challenge, and we are looking forward to it.

It is always good to play good teams at the MCG.
