The Geelong Football Club is calling for nominations for the RJ Hickey and carter/Costa Service Awards, recognising the people who make a lasting impact on our game, our Club and our community.

RJ Hickey & Carter-Costa Award Nominations Explainer

R J Hickey Award

Named in honour of Geelong great Reg Hickey, this award recognises individuals who have provided outstanding service to Australian Football, particularly within the Geelong region. 

From grassroots volunteers to players, coaches, administrators and media contributors, this award celebrates those who have shaped the game at every level. 

Carter & Costa Award

This award honours the legacy of Colin Carter and Frank Costa, recognising those who go above and beyond in service to others.

Awarded to an individual who has demonstrated exceptional service that strengthens the Geelong Football Club or contributes significantly to the wellbeing and vitality of the broader Geelong community.  

This award recognises service beyond football, reflecting the community leadership and values embodied by Colin Carter and Frank Costa.

How to Nominate

Do you know someone who deserves to be recognised?

When you submit a nomination, it’s all about telling their story and giving a clear picture of their contribution and impact. 

Helpful things to include:

  • Where they’ve been involved (clubs, organisations or community groups)
  • How many years they’ve contributed
  • The roles they’ve taken on
  • The impact they’ve made on football and/or the community

A reference or endorsement from their club or community can also help bring their nomination to life.
