Members of Geelong's 1963 VFL and Reserves premiership winning teams congregated last Friday night, enjoying a special reunion to reminisce on one of the most successful years in the club's history.

Among the crowd that attended the event were members of both teams, wives and partners of past players.

Geelong's premiership captain, Fred Wooller was in attendance alongside 1962 Brownlow Medallist, Alistair Lord.

Also at the reunion was Doug Wade, who featured in the 1963 premiership and went on to kick the second most goals of any player in Geelong Football Club history.

The 1963 VFL season was simply brilliant, with Geelong finishing tied on top of the ladder with Hawthorn before going on to beat the Hawks twice, which included a 49-point victory in the Grand Final.

The Cats were just 10 points ahead at three quarter time of the Grand Final but dominated in the final term, kicking six goals while holding Hawthorn goalless to secure the premiership, with Fred Wooller (three goals) and Graham 'Polly' Farmer leading the way.

Earlier on the same day, Geelong's reserves team featured in their Grand Final which also doubled as a curtain-raiser at the MCG, going on to defeat St Kilda by 37 points.
