Geelong has selected their AFLW team for Saturday's season opening clash with North Melbourne, as the Cats set themselves for a historic double-header under the roof at Marvel Stadium. 

Headlining the team will be three AFLW debutants as announced earlier today, with Evie Cowcher, Priya Bowering and Emma Murray all set to play their first career game at the elite level. 

Experienced defender Nicola Stevens will also pull on the Hoops for the first time this weekend, after joining the Cats via trade at the end of the 2025 AFLW season. 

Chantel Emonson will also bolster Geelong's defensive stocks, with the star Cat set to make her return after spending 2025 on the inactive list, following the birth of her first child. Chloe Scheer is also set to make her long-awaited return, which will also mark her 50th AFLW game. 

New co-captains Nina Morrison and Becky Webster have both been selected and will officially lead their side for the first time. 

Geelong will commence their 2026 AFLW season with the ultimate test, as they prepare to take on the back-to-back reigning premiers, North Melbourne on Saturday afternoon. 

It will be the Cats' first appearance at Marvel Stadium in their AFLW history, with the game set to commence at 1.00pm AEST to kick off a historic double-header, with the AFL clash to follow at 3.45pm.

The match will be broadcast on Fox Footy and streamed through Kayo, or catch all the action on K rock from 1.00pm.
