Scott on how the Cats turned the momentum

I think the most important thing was the players had belief that if we did shift a few things, that we could turn the momentum of the game.

But that is a rare situation, to have that belief when you have been so badly outplayed.

They were dominant and it is not as if we predicted that start, but we were well aware of the threat. They have been building their list and their best 23 for a long time, and they are full of really good players.

Early on they were all playing well, but we thought we probably allowed them to do what they do best a bit too much.

When there was a bit more pressure around the ball, we thought we gave ourselves a bit more of an even chance.

Scott on which players stepped up

I don't love individualising generally but there are a few that spring to mind.

We really liked Mitch Edwards' game, it is a great achievement playing your first game of AFL footy full stop. But to have an impact the way he did was really exciting for us.

Tanner Bruhn was very good again, which is exciting for our future. We do our best not to look back, but it is hard not to wonder what might have been if we had him available last year.

He is really adding to that midfield mix with us, he is a flexible player as well.

We thought our forwards competed well ahead of the ball too, I think Shannon Neale ended up with five goals.

Against a well credentialed and tall backline, we thought he was really strong.

Scott on what impressed him

The part that pleases me is that the whole group hung in.

They had the belief that if we did shift a few things, that the game would turn.

It is so easy to say that studs, it is much harder to do.

Scott on how Geelong will handle their bye week

The most important thing for us is that our VFL get a standalone game without an AFL game to get in the way, like it did today for example.

We can get a nice balance of work into guys that we think will benefit from it, but some longer rest into the guys who will benefit from that.

Today for example, we had a few guys that didn't play at all because we needed carry overs for this afternoons game.

We will look forward to those guys getting a bit more time, but it is a quirk of the fixture this Opening Round.
