Geelong Cats AFLW senior coach Dan Lowther has informed the Club he will step down from his role to explore other opportunities.

Lowther has been at the helm of the Club’s AFLW team for the past five seasons, having been appointed to the role in June 2021. Under Lowther’s leadership the Club played Finals in 2022 and 2023 which included a Preliminary Final against eventual Premiers the Brisbane Lions.

Lowther has been involved with the Club in numerous roles over the past 29 years, starting in 1996 as a player. In 2015 Lowther joined the Club as an assistant coach of the VFL men’s side, a role he held until 2018 when he became an AFL analyst, a full-time role he held until 2020, before moving into the W program in 2021 as an assistant coach.

Lowther expressed his thanks to the Club for the opportunity to lead the W program.

“It’s been a privilege to coach and develop such dedicated and driven young athletes throughout my time at the Cats, as well as work and learn alongside some of the best minds in football.
