The AFL's night of nights is set to crown the best player in the competition, the Grand Final week festivities kicking off with the Brownlow Medal on Monday night.

Geelong is set to feature heavily and there are plenty of storylines to keep an eye on as the night unfolds, with the Cats looking to claim their first Brownlow since Patrick Dangerfield in 2016.

Star midfielder is predicted to finish near the top of the leaderboard, a number of young guns could potentially poll for the first time, while Dangerfield also has a number of records in his sight in what could be a historic night for the champion Cat.

Take a look at everything you need to know ahead of the 2025 Brownlow Medal on Monday night.

The Top Chance

Bailey Smith

A dominant season from Geelong's gun recruit has him firmly in hunt for the 2025 Brownlow Medal, Smith predicted to poll strongly after an ultra consistent campaign.

According to the AFL's Brownlow Medal Predictor, Smith is projected to poll 31 votes and finish in a tie for second place, just one vote behind their predicted winner.

Smith will have a number of chances for three-votes games including Round 14 (41 disposals, nine inside 50s), Round 5 (35 disposals, one goal) and Round 12 (38 disposals, one goal).

Expect to see the superstar poll consistently throughout the season, but he is also predicted to finish strongly in the final five weeks.

Who Might Surprise

Max Holmes

Dynamic through the midfield and certainly one that catches the eye, Max Holmes could also feature heavily in the voting after another brilliant year.

The AFL's predictor has Holmes polling 19 votes and finishing second at the Cats, looking to build off a career-best 10 votes that he polled in last year's Brownlow.

Accumulating 30 disposals in eight different games while also pushing forward to hit the scoreboard, expect to see Holmes catch the voters attention with a strong finish on the cards.

Holmes' Best Chances

  • Round 13: 40 Disposals, 10 Clearances, Seven Inside 50s
  • Round 21: 35 Disposals, Nine Inside 50s, Two Goals
  • Round 11: 33 Disposals, Eight Clearances, One Goal

Jeremy Cameron

He has a strong record on Brownlow night considering it is an award the usually favours midfielders, but expect Jeremy Cameron to feature prominently once again after another outstanding year.

The Coleman Medalist finished with 83 goals in the regular season, kicking five goals or more on seven different occasions which will certainly attract attention and help him poll strongly.

Cameron finished with 16 votes last year after a 64-goal season, so he could potentially eclipse that total night after an even stronger season.

Cameron's Best Chances

  • Round 20: 22 Disposals, 11 goals, Eight Marks Inside 50
  • Round 10: 16 Disposals, Seven goals, Six Marks Inside 50
  • Round 11: 14 Disposals, Six Goals

The Record Breaker

Patrick Dangerfield

It could very well be a night to remember for Geelong skipper, Patrick Dangerfield as he sits within striking distance of a number of Brownlow Medal records.

The first and perhaps the most significant is the all-time Brownlow votes leaderboard, with Dangerfield needing just 12 votes to pass Gary Ablett Junior for the most votes by an player in the history of the award.

He also sits second behind Ablett for the most three-vote games in the Medal's history, needing just one to tie Ablett and two to surpass him for top spot in that category.

Dangerfield also sits third for the most games polling votes in the Brownlow's history, needing to poll in two more games to pass Sam Mitchell for second place.

The AFL's predictor has the Cats champion polling eight votes tonight with two three-vote games, so keep your eyes peeled as Dangerfield chases another slice of greatness in his storied career.
