Lowther on what the Cats need to work on

The consistency is one major element that we have been focusing on for a number of weeks.

We had some good signs last week against the Swans, where we played quarter one to four which is what we are after based off the first two rounds, where we started well and finished really poorly.

Last week was a good step in the right direction, but a lot of our focus is around how we get that consistency from quarter one to four, but what moments and scenarios in games allow us to buy into that understanding with some great clarity.

I think our tempo and control has been a bit too live at times throughout games, which then might cause the game to be a bit more chaotic at times where it shouldn't need to be.

A lot of our focus with our reflection and our training has been about understanding those scenarios better, and making sure we make better decisions in real time.

Lowther on the team outlook

The team will look a little bit different again off the back of that.

We want to make sure that we are sticking to our philosophy and our method around how we play the game, but just making sure also that our players get good looks and play different positions to see what they can bring to the team, and what attributes they have got.

We have got a number of players now who are putting their hand up to say hey listen, play me. We have probably got a bit more availability now this week to consider.

Sienna Tallariti is one that has put her hand up, she is coming closer and closer to playing which is exciting for us as a team.

Lexi Gregor is training really well, Caitlin Tipping is back training with the main group now, so there is going to be change off the back of availability which is really good.

Lowther on how Geelong can get their season on track

It is just seeing those moments in games where it shows that we are good enough, and playing a certain system and style that suits the playing groups strengths.

You see that from quarter to quarter against the really strong, traditional sides who are consistently playing well and we can match that or be playing a more damaging brand against those types of opposition. That gives me a lot of positivity around what we are doing is the right thing, but you still need to be flexible and change depending on who you are playing or who is available.

I think we are on the right track, now it is just about making sure we find that right balance with our personnel that can implement that style and system for long enough.

But also the IQ and the game awareness to marry it up is really important as well, so we will keep changing plays and our team around to suit what we think is the best matchup for the opposition, but also for the best output for our performance as well.

Lowther on the challenge against Essendon

Obviously 3-0, they had a pretty good game against the Giants early days in Round 1.

They had a come from behind win over West Coast in Round 2 at home, which was an exciting game to watch, a bit of a lower scoring affair. Last week they travelled up to Darwin and in those conditions, had to fight a really strong fight against Richmond who probably had their chances as well to put some scoreboard pressure on but didn't quite take it, which sounds very familiar.

If they are challenged, they find a way which is impressive for their squad. They have got a really nice mix of their younger players coming through and having influence in games, I know they have got a couple of key players out there they would rather have in.

All signs show that they are gelling quite well as a team, so it will be a really good challenge.
