Scott on the challenge facing the Suns

The whole world knows about their talent, that has been there for a little while.

Over the course of history, you see teams who obviously need to be well coached which clearly they are.

But in parallel with that, when you see teams that have a group of players that have played together for a long time, that is where it tends to click.

I suspect they are coming into that period now, unfortunately for us all.

Scott on Jack Martin

It is really good for Jack.

I think we were clear, we certainly were internally around our expectations of him through our pre-season and early start of the season proper. We wanted to take our time, make sure that he was well prepared to play and he has got to that stage now.

I think we have also said publicly that we didn't bring him in thinking that we will see how it went for one season, we aspired to a longer tenure than that.

He has only played the two games in the VFL, but he has trained really well before that and has earned his spot in the team.

It is fair to say that everyone is excited to see what he can do.

Scott on Gold Coast's record at GMHBA Stadium

I don't read into it much, hopefully I am consistent. I referenced it before that Jack Martin probably didn't play with many guys at the Gold Coast, their team is so different.

Often stats catch me by surprise around our history and my standard line is, we are a different team now to the one we were in 2018.

But again, you could spend a lot of time digging into the why's of those sort of stats and still not give you anything that is actionable this weekend.

The thing that is really relevant for us is just how good they have been consistently this year, we are past the halfway mark of the year and they are still up there and have been formidable.

Scott on Oisin Mullin's role

That is the harder question, which one does he go to.

He tends to play a pretty similar role for us, even when he plays in the back half rather than the midfield. His method and the way we go about it tends to stay pretty similar.

It would be reasonable to say that if he kind of rolled off one player to the next one, then that second one is going to be just as dangerous.

He has played some really good roles for us, but it would be slightly misleading to think that he is just a lockdown player who has a specific role every week. We are a bit more flexible than that.

Scott on the forward structure

I think it is every coaches wish to have multiple options and make it a little bit harder for the opposition to predict.

One of the things that makes those guys very good players is that they do have multiple modes. It is not a guarantee that Dangerfield will play big minutes in the midfield, but I suspect he will be there at times and Jeremy is up in the midfield whether we like it or not sometimes.

I think that contributes to a little bit of that unpredictability, as opposed to specifically thinking we have to spread the load.

If Jeremy kicks six or seven or eight every week, I think we will be okay. I would be surprised if its a case of thinking we are too one dimensional, but our preference is to have a lot of threats.
