After a three-game taste through the JLT Community Series, young Cat Brandan Parfitt is ready for an AFL debut.
The 18-year-old held his own against formidable opponents Hawthorn, Adelaide and Essendon throughout the pre-season competition and is hopeful he will see further action against Fremantle in round one.
“I am finally finding my feet now and a lot more confident in my role and running out with all the boys. It’s a lot more comfortable,” Parfitt told the Geelong Advertiser.
“Hopefully [I can play round one]. I have played all the pre-season games, I’ve put my hand up to play.”
“I’m happy to play round one if I get chosen to. But if it’s not to be, it’s not to be.”
Parfitt averaged 13 disposals across the JLT Community Series, booting two goals from three games.
He put in his best performance of the summer against the Bombers in Bendigo last weekend – collecting 18 disposals – and says getting into the fray early is his best bet.
“I think I play on confidence, so to get early touches gets me going,” Parfitt said.
“I am still trying to get better at all aspects of my game. Everything needs to improve.”
