The Herald Sun reports that  Heath Shaw may be torn between the money on offer at GWS and the potential success at the Cats. The Sun also reports Shaw met with Cats skipper Joel Selwood to discuss a move to Simonds Stadium on a four year deal.

The Cats farewelled players from 2013 are attracting interest but yet to be offered a deal. Speaking on SEN, Carlton football manager Andrew McKay said whilst they would look at James Podsiadly and Paul Chapman a deal was a long way off.

"He's an interesting one, the Pod - a key forward who's probably got another year or two left," football manager Andrew McKay told SEN on Wednesday morning.

"He's left Geelong because they're trying to freshen up their list and give a bit more game time to the younger boys.

"He may suit us on a very short-term basis, but again, it's very early stages there so we can't get too enthused at this stage."

As for Chapman, the Blues are still considering throwing him a lifeline. "I think he's probably got a little bit of footy left in him; he brings that aggressive touch to the game," McKay said. "We'd be mad not to look at him, but certainly we're a long way off at this stage." -

Speaking on TradeRadio, Essendon list manager Adrian Dodoro said they would look to speak with Chapman but Richmond and North Melbourne have ruled out making a move on the veteran.  Fremantle's Chris Bond said they would speak with Podsiadly at some stage.

The Australian reports that despite overtures from many rival clubs, dual premiership player Travis Varcoe looks set to stay at the Cats.
Cats list manager Stephen Wells said “There has been inquiries from other clubs but it's highly unlikely that Travis is going anywhere,"

Also on Varcoe, the Adelaide Advertiser says Port has shown interest in the speedy midfielder but won’t give up their first round pick for him. Port football manager Peter Rhode said ““He is a talented player who would fulfil our needs ... but we don’t see ourselves involved in that trade, if that does happen anyway.”

The Herald Sun reports that the Cats have put an attractive four year offer to former Magpie Heath Shaw. But the Cats will have some competition with the GWS Giants alleged to have made a 5 year, $4m offer.

The Sun also reports that young Giants gun Taylor Adams has indicated he wants to be traded to the Cats or Pies. Adams, who grew up in Geelong, is managed by Scott Lucas who said "It's fair to say at this stage Collingwood and Geelong would be his preferences and it's also the ability of those teams to get a deal done with GWS at this stage.”

Meanwhile, Paul Chapman continues to look for a new home after leaving the Cats. Richmond, who had been rumoured to be interested in the 251 game veteran, said this yesterday 'I don't know where [those reports] come from actually. We haven't really had any discussion at all about Chappy.''
