Atkins’ progression from a defensive role player to a midfield star continued in 2023, averaging over 19 disposals and eight tackles per game. He recorded several personal bests throughout the year including 34 disposals against Collingwood in round 22, and nine clearances against Essendon in round 18. Ranked third in the competition for total tackles, on his way to finishing second in the Cats best and fairest while also reaching 100 career games. One of only three Cats to play every game in 2023, while continuing to impress with his leadership both on and off the field.
