Gryan Miers has been named in the AFLPA 22Under22 40-man squad.

Geelong has kicked more goals than any other side this season and Miers has played a major hand in that for the Cats.

He kicked a career-best four goals in Geelong's Round 10 win against North Melbourne and currently sits third in the goal kicking behind Tom Hawkins and Gary Rohan with a highly accurate 13.2 this season.

To be eligible for selection, players must be aged 22 years or under for the entirety of the season, including the finals series, and have played a minimum of eight games.

AFL Players’ Association president, Patrick Dangerfield, congratulated the players selected and praised their influence and consistency during the early stages of their career.

“The concept is great recognition for the up-and-coming talent across the competition and selection is something the players strive for,” he said.

“It’s not easy to walk into an AFL club and have an impact straight away, but many of these guys have quickly become key cogs within their teams.

“A scan of the squad is proof that the future of our game is in good hands.”

Now in its eighth year, 22Under22 is the industry’s only recognised fan-voted award and provides the footy public with the power to select the final 22.

Fans can now visit 22under22.com.au to cast their vote, before the final team is revealed on September 22.

Fans who submit a team that matches the final 22Under22 team will automatically go into the draw to win a limited edition 22Under22 jumper signed by the captain and vice-captain and a Big Swing Golf experience for them and three friends.

Voting closes on Friday, September 18, 2020.
