Stinear on the early takeaways

They got the start early, we were probably lucky they didn't have a few more goals on the board.

It was tricky with the breeze, trying to find out how much it was helping. At three quarter time, it was swirling around and maybe not as favourable at the end.

I think the second quarter was good, good to be able to get up and going to put some scoreboard pressure on. Then the third quarter, they started to get a little bit more aggressive off half back, and started to get a hold of the game.

Then I feel like we just tightened right up in the second half, and started to collapse in a little bit around the ball. Fundamentally, we probably lost our way a little bit and they made us pay off turnover.

There are some valuable lessons for us, I thought our effort and pressure and intent was really good. But our method and ability to execute fundamentally just lacked at critical times.

Stinear on facing his former side

It was good, good to see so many friendly faces. I am pleased for 'Hanksy' to be able to get that outcome in her 100th game.

But right at the end, my competitive spirit was well and truly up and about.

I am gutted for our group, but then also, I didn't really feel like we deserved to get that result today, and Melbourne thoroughly deserved it.

I think the outcome went the right way, but we have earned the second chance so we will cash that in and use it this week. I think we will come back stronger next week.

Stinear on whether Finals experience played a part

Don't know about the Finals experience.

We started to collapse in and around the ball, getting a little bit desperate.

I think it was probably the lack of having four quarters of being pushed at that level, which we probably haven't had that lesson for a little while.

To be able to get that now, to be able to show it and walk through it, then to get to work on it during the week. Then it is not long until we get to apply ourselves and hopefully we get a much better performance next week.

Stinear on Georgie Prespakis

I think she gave us plenty of drive out of the middle, winning critical contests. Her pressure game was huge again.

She has had a really consistent season and today was no different.

It is just our ability as a team to navigate that pressure together, and she will be a key part of that, helping others to make good decisions at the right time.

Then trying to maintain a bit more time in possession, the game lived in a contest for a lot of today, it was a little bit chaotic at times. We are at our best when the game is well balanced.Â
