The Geelong Cats are mourning the passing of the club’s first female captain Audrey Cope.

Audrey was one of the pioneers of women’s football in Australia, leading Geelong’s inaugural women’s team in 1954.

Audrey was at the forefront of encouraging women to play football and was proud of how the game evolved to welcome professional female athletes.

The club offers its heartfelt condolences to her family.
