Following the AFL Trade period, the Club has made a further change to its playing squad for the 2027 season.

The Club thanks Mitch Knevitt for his contribution to the Club, with Knevitt set to depart after he was not offered a contract for next year.

Selected with pick 25 in the 2021 National Draft, Knevitt made his AFL debut in 2022 and played 23 games in the Hoops.

Knevitt continued to develop his game in the Cats’ VFL side in 2026, playing an important role in the team’s run to the Grand Final. Averaging 25.8 disposals per game, he was one of the team’s most consistent performers throughout the season and finished runner-up in the Club’s VFL Best and Fairest.

Geelong Cats Executive General Manager of Football Andrew Mackie thanked Knevitt for his time at the Club.

“Mitch has been a dedicated member of our program over the past five seasons at Geelong. He’s brought a team first approach to his footy, versatility, and been a great teammate.

“These decisions are never easy, and we thank Mitch for his contribution to the Club and wish him all the best.”

The Club remains open to re-drafting Knevitt in either the National Draft or Rookie Draft next month.
