Geelong’s Round 14 clash against the Western Bulldogs at Metricon Stadium on Friday night shapes up as a blockbuster.

Both sides have played some brilliant football in recent weeks.

The Cats are on a four-game winning streak after their 28-point victory against Adelaide and have the best percentage in the league sitting in third spot on the ladder.

Five rungs below them you will find the Western Bulldogs who enter the game following back-to-back wins against Melbourne and Adelaide.

Recent history suggests this game could go either way. Since 2016 the two sides have met on six occasions for three wins apiece.

Tom Stewart was one of Geelong's best last time the two sides last met with 24 disposals and 10 marks.

From the Captain…

Captain Joel Selwood was impressed by the way the Bulldogs played last week and knows Geelong will need to be cleaner around the ball this week.

“They were good last week and have shown some really solid performances,” captain Joel Selwood said on Geelong’s official podcast ‘To the Final Bell’.

“We have got to be really good around the ball - we were a little bit scratchy on the weekend and probably weren’t as sharp as what we were the couple of weeks before that.”

From the Coach...

The Bulldogs are a hard team to stop when they have the momentum within a game. This was evident in their third term against Melbourne last week, kicking five goals in quick succession and it is something Coach Chris Scott is wary of.

“I think that period of the game where they had great ascendancy is something that we need to plan for obviously,” Scott said.

“We have great respect for the way they have played over the course of the season, particularly the last couple of weeks - they have got a bit of personnel back into their team and their midfield is looking really strong.

“There a fast ball moving team and are very dangerous when they get the game on their terms.”

Prediction: Luke Dahlhaus to kick three goals against his former side.
