At the beginning of the year Jordan Murdoch wasn’t able to complete a full training session due to an uncomfortable niggle in his back.

The Cats Head of Sport Science & Sport Medicine, Peter Stanton, took Murdoch’s case on as one of his preseason projects.

“I would do a training session and I might be sore for the next day and miss a couple of days,” Murdoch explained to News Limited.

The first part of Stanton’s program for Murdoch comprised of softer exercises off the training track in order to take the pressure off his back.

“The first few weeks of the year I didn’t run. It was bike, a lot of massage, just getting these things to calm down so I could do things effectively,” Murdoch said.

Murdoch admits that a solid training session was hard to come by at times. However, he was in good hands and constantly under close supervision.

“There were training sessions I didn’t get through because I’d get so sore and tighten up,” he said.

“They’d pull me out and say that’s enough for today.”

Since working with Stanton over the past few months Murdoch has made positive progress and they both happy with where he’s at.

“I have a lot to do with Peter Stanton, the new physio. He’s taken me on as his project and I consult with him every week and he’s confident we’ve got it to a stage where it’s coming along quite well.”

Murdoch is set to play against the Roos for the Cats last practice match and hopefully his performance earns him a spot with the big Cats come Round 1.
