An emerging Cats duo has been recognised for their stellar 2026 seasons, with Evie Cowcher and Chantal Mason both selected in the initial squad for the AFLPA's AFLW 22Under22 team. 

A fan-voted concept, supporters from each club will make their selections and the best 22 players from the initial squad will make the final team, which recognises the best young talent in the AFLW. 

It is apt recognition for two young players who have been crucial to Geelong's campaign so far, securing a top-two spot on the ladder after winning 11 consecutive games to finish the home-and-away season. 

Mason entered the year with nine AFLW appearances under her belt, but has played all 12 games for the Cats to this point of the 2026 season. 

Primarily a forward, Mason was also utilised in the ruck and showcased her brilliant athletic traits, having a big impact around stoppages and eclipsing her career-high for disposals on three different occasions. 

At the tail-end of the regular season, she shifted back forward and continued to have a phenomenal impact, kicking three goals in each of Geelong's last two games heading into Finals. 

Evie Cowcher made her AFLW debut in Round 1 this year and never looked back, becoming a pivotal piece in Geelong's defence and often getting handed the task against some of the competition's best key forwards. 

She went on to finish second at the Cats for spoils, fifth for intercept possessions and went at an impressive 77.5% disposal efficiency across the season. 

Voting opens today, the 5th of November and will close on November 12th.

The final team will be announced on the 19th of November via the AFLPA's website and social media channels. Voting is open now, with fans encouraged to follow the link here and select their best 22!
