Geelong forward Jasmin Stewart has called time on her AFLW career, confirming that 2026 will be her final season at the elite level.

Stewart made the announcement to the Cats' playing group this week, ahead of their final match in the home-and-away season against the Western Bulldogs on Friday night.

The retirement brings to a close the experienced forward's remarkable journey in the AFLW, spanning over eight years and three different clubs.

A highly touted prospect coming into the league, Stewart commenced her AFLW career in 2018 when she was selected by Fremantle with pick No. 4 in the national draft, taken just three picks after Nina Morrison.

She would go on to make her AFLW debut in the opening round of the 2020 season, fittingly against Geelong, collecting 13 disposals to help lead the Dockers to a victory at home.

Across the next three seasons, Stewart went on to play 22 games and kicked six goals for Fremantle, before announcing her retirement from senior football in April 2022.

After concluding her time with the Dockers, Stewart then returned to the WAFLW and dominated for Claremont in 2022, before coming out of retirement and returning to the AFLW in 2023.

Stewart was picked up by Port Adelaide in the AFLW supplementary draft, going on to spend three more seasons with the Power and playing 20 games in that span.

She was delisted at the end of 2025, but that opened the door for the next chapter in her career, as Stewart signed with Geelong as a free agent for the 2026 season.

Proving to be a valuable asset, Stewart has featured in six games in the blue and white Hoops through to Round 11, kicking five goals in those matches and providing a spark inside forward 50.

Averaging over three score involvements per game over the past five weeks, Stewart has played an important role in helping the Cats to go on a record-breaking 10-game winning streak.

Stewart's AFLW career will conclude at the end of Geelong's 2026 season.

A proud Jaru woman, Stewart has made a meaningful contribution to celebrating and sharing First Nations culture throughout her career, designing guernseys for Fremantle and Port Adelaide and sharing her culture and experiences with the Geelong playing group and staff.

“After eight years, I feel the time is right to step away from footy,” Stewart said.

“I’m incredibly proud of my career, from starting out at Fremantle to my time at Port Adelaide and Geelong. One of the greatest honours has been representing my culture and celebrating it so proudly.

“Footy has given me incredible people and connections, and I feel so lucky to have shared these experiences with them. I’m grateful to Geelong for welcoming me into such an authentic and wholesome environment, and couldn’t be happier to finish my career in the Hoops alongside this amazing team as we head into finals.

"Thank you to my family and friends for their support throughout my career. I’m looking forward to heading home, being closer to them and starting this next chapter.”

Geelong Cats GM AFLW, Dom Condo, thanked Stewart for her contribution since joining the Club.

“In a short space of time, Jaz has been a wonderful addition to our Club. Her experience, knowledge and passion for the game have had a positive influence on our playing group, and we're grateful for the contribution she has made during her time at the Cats.

“We’re looking forward to enjoying the rest of the season with Jaz in the Hoops and hope we can send her off in the best possible way.”

The Cats take on the Western Bulldogs in the last home and away game of the season this Friday night. The top of the table clash starts at 7.15pm as the Cats battle for a top two finish. Tickets are available now via Ticketmaster.
