Geelong did not have it all their own way on Saturday afternoon but were able to stave off a strong challenge from Collingwood, pulling away after half-time to record a 41-point victory at Victoria Park. 

Already in the midst of a club-best start to an AFLW season, the Cats have extended their winning streak to five and continue to solidify their position in the top eight, well and truly in the hunt for a top-four finish at the midway point of the home-and-away season. 

There were plenty of remarkable performances for Geelong, but perhaps none were better than the dynamic midfield duo of Nina Morrison and Georgie Prespakis, who combined for 57 disposals, 19 clearances, 12 score involvements and 15 intercept possessions, a simply dominant outing from the star Cats. 

Aishling Moloney (three goals, 10 score involvements) and Chloe Scheer (four goals) looked unstoppable in the forward half, Piper Dunlop (28 hit-outs, eight score involvements) produced one of her best games in the Hoops to control the ruck and stoppage battle, while Mikayla Bowen (29 disposals, nine score involvements) also continued her strong start to the season. 

The opening quarter provided a remarkable, free-flowing brand of football as nine goals were kicked between the two sides, with Geelong gaining the ascendancy early particularly around stoppages, through the brilliant ruck craft of Piper Dunlop. 

Georgie Prespakis tallied six clearances in the first term alone, Chloe Scheer booted two goals and it helped the Cats to take a six-point lead into the quarter time break. 

Scoring proved to be harder to come by in the second term, Geelong controlled general play for large periods of the quarter but could not capitalise on the scoreboard, with their lead trimmed to three points at the main break. 

Prespakis was unstoppable in the opening half collecting 19 disposals, nine clearances and a goal, well supported by Nina Morrison who also found 17 disposals, six intercept possessions and five inside 50s. 

Becky Webster also continued her sensational form, recording goal assists on three of Geelong's six goals in the opening half, while also finding 10 possessions and two clearances. 

Collingwood squandered opportunities early in the second half and it briefly left scores level, before the Cats found the momentum and made their decisive move to take full control of the contest. 

It was two of their superstar forwards that took over, with Scheer and Aishling Moloney kicking four consecutive goals between them, before Kate Surman capped off a sensational quarter of football to put Geelong 29 points clear at three quarter time. 

Emma Murray extended the margin and gave the Cats an unassailable lead early in the final term, with Geelong continuing their strong form to close out a 41-point victory on Saturday afternoon.
