Geelong took care of business in dominant fashion on Saturday afternoon, dispatching the Bombers to record their fourth consecutive win and the club's 500th victory at GMHBA Stadium. 

It is another important four points in the context of the Cats' season, momentarily moving inside the top-six with two games remaining in the regular season.

There were a number of star players who performed strongly to lift the home crowd, celebrating Retro Round and an entertaining afternoon at the Cattery.

Ollie Henry

13 Disposals, Four Goals, 10 Score Involvements

What about the form from Ollie Henry over the past month?

Another four goals from the talented forward on Saturday afternoon takes him to 13 goals over the last four weeks, also taking his season tally to 39 majors which is tied for the second-most at Geelong in 2026. 

When the game was there to be won in the opening half, Henry looked the most threatening of Geelong's tall timber and took four marks inside 50, finishing the night with an equal game-high 10 score involvements. 

Henry has been remarkably consistent this season, hitting the scoreboard in 18 of his 20 games this year and he looms as an important piece for the Cats heading towards September.

Bailey Smith

38 Disposals, Eight Clearances, 751 Metres Gained

Where most other players struggled to adapt to the wet conditions throughout the night, Geelong's premier midfielder had no such issues as he pieced together another outstanding display through the middle of the ground. 

Smith finished Saturday's game with a game-high 38 disposals, the only player on the ground to eclipse the 30-disposal mark, while also recording his third-highest total in the 2026 season. 

If that was not enough, the superstar also collected eight clearances which included six centre clearances, generated 751 metres gained and launched the Cats inside 50 on eight occasions. 

Smith also recorded seven score involvements, five intercept possessions and went at over 70% efficiency despite the trying conditions, a simply outstanding game for the brilliant Cat. 

Ollie Dempsey

19 Disposals, Four Goals, Seven Score Involvements

Speaking of hot form, Geelong's star winger is putting together a seriously good streak of games at the right time of year, after another fantastic outing at GMHBA Stadium. 

Dempsey did most of his damage early and helped the Cats to build an unassailable lead by the main break, kicking four goals in the opening half and consistently testing Essendon inside forward 50. 

That now makes it 13 goals for Dempsey from his last six appearances, taking his season tally to 28 majors which is the fifth most of any Cats in 2026. 

He also added 19 disposals and three clearances, with the outstanding winger looking like he is ready to lead his team into another Finals campaign. 

Jhye Clark

20 Disposals, One Goal, 90% Disposal Efficiency

Clark had to work extremely hard to earn a recall to Geelong's AFL side in Round 19, but after a 16-week absence from the elite level, he has slotted back in absolutely brilliantly with a sensational month of football in defence. 

The young Cat collected 20 disposals against the Bombers, which is just the third time he has reached that number in his AFL career, but barely wasted a possession going at an outstanding 90% disposal efficiency in the wet conditions. 

His toughness really shone through as he consistently threw his body into contests, taking eight marks to go with three score involvements and three intercept possessions. 

Clark capped off his brilliant display with a late goal, just the sixth major in his AFL career, but he has certainly gone a long way to cementing his position in Geelong's side over the last month. 

Shannon Neale

12 Disposals, Three Goals, Seven Score Involvements

For the first time since 2011, someone other than Tom Hawkins or Jeremy Cameron are in the box seat to be Geelong's leading goal-kicker in a season, with Shannon Neale rising to the top of the standings on Saturday. 

Despite it being a difficult day for tall forwards, the big Cat was still able to make his presence felt and finished the contest strongly, kicking three goals to take his season-tally to 41. 

Also able to pinch-hit in the ruck, Neale won a number of hit-outs and still registered seven score involvements, but was also able to apply remarkable pressure with an equal game-high four tackles inside 50.
