Geelong superstar Georgie Prespakis has been selected in the Australian team for the upcoming AFLW clash against Ireland, with the first wave of players released on Sunday morning.
The AFL recently announced that the historic match between Australia and Ireland will take place at North Sydney Oval on August 1, bringing together the competition's brightest stars and best young talent in a significant event for the AFLW.
Prespakis was announced in the first wave of players for the Australian team, while fellow Geelong star forward Aishling Moloney was among the first selections for the Ireland squad on Sunday.
One of the AFLW's most dominant and brilliant players, Prespakis rose to stardom right away in the Hoops after being selected with pick two in the 2021 national draft.
Making her debut immediately in 2022 Season Six, the sensational on-baller quickly cemented her place in Geelong's team and was touted as one of the top young talents in the league, selected in five consecutive AFLPA 22Under 22 teams.
Prespakis has also earned two selections in the AFLW All-Australian team (2022 S7, 2025), while also winning a pair of Geelong best and fairest awards in 2023 and 2025.
Another brilliant campaign last year saw the young Cat gain a plethora of awards, finishing second in the 2025 AFLW Best and Fairest behind North Melbourne's Ash Riddell.
Prespakis' selection in the Australian team adds another accolade to her extraordinary resume, remarkably achieving it all despite being just 23 years of age.
The 2026 NAB AFLW Australia v Ireland match will be played under Australian Football Rules, with a classic Sherrin football.
The match will start at 4.15pm AEST and will be broadcast exclusively live around the country on Fox Footy, Kayo Sports, Kayo Freebies and Binge.
More details, including coaches, squads, ticketing information and further broadcast information, will be announced in due course.
